I have a personal issue when people say, "I'm tired." Like who the heck isn't? I have yet to meet that one person that walks around the planet that says, "You know, I'm really well rested."
The fact is that EVERYONE is tired, it's all relative. Like, if you worked in a factory all day standing on your feet, you might me tired. Tilling the fields somewhere--tired. Chasing after a toddler while only sleeping three hours a night, ok--tired.
Going shopping at the mall--you don't get to complain your tired. Going to see a show and going out dancing--revoking tired privileges. And staying up late watching a game or some television series--yeah, no sympathy.
The other thing that irritates me after someone says, "I'm tired" is the sentence that follows, I was xyz all night. Really? I don't need to know why you're tired. I'm tired too. As a matter of fact, my guess is, if we were to sit down and compare notes about who should be more tired, I would win. I probably accomplished more than you probably did in your day. I'm sure you'll want to argue, but um, no. That's what runs through my head, when I have to utter the obligatory, "uh-huh." And honestly, WHY are you telling me you're tired? Because what, you want sympathy? You want to end the conversation early? What? You want to excuse yourself from that yawn you made while I was talking?
So, yeah. I don't want to hear if you're tired. Go to sleep if you can, and just shhh about it. Because take a look to your right and your left...psst...they're tired too.

The nowness of things...
Do you ever notice in life there are those that are never satisfied? You know, they win lotto and complain about the taxes being taken out. Or they get promoted, but complain about the new responsibilities and extra hours. I know you’ll say it’s about viewing the glass half full or half empty, but maybe for some, the fact that there’s a glass is annoying.
I know that life is either too short or too long depending on how you choose to live it, but whatever happened to just being thankful for the nowness of things? You know, that fact that your life at this moment is probably exactly where it should be. I know this might be a bit to existential for folks, but if you think you’re here to learn, why not consider the current state of affairs at the class you’re supposed to be enrolled it. Once you pass your final exam, you’ll be able to graduate to the next level course. Where, anyone who’s had to take a sequenced course will tell you the basic class is always boring but as you advance, it gets more and more interesting and more and more fun. And sure, there’s homework and studying that needs to be done. So? Don’t be the person who didn’t read the book and got the crib notes. So the sooner, you hurry up and get to learning what you’re supposed to…the faster you’ll get to where you need to go.
And as in most things, there are no viable short cuts in life. Think of it this way, in nature things take the time they’re supposed to take no matter what. You can’t really make an cherry tree make cherries faster than it is supposed to and still have good tasting fruit…so instead of rushing through life, maybe what we all need to do it stop and allow the fruit of our labors to ripen?
So, right now, just take a moment and reflect. And don’t be that annoying person that complains about everything. What is, is; but how you perceive it, is up to you. For me, I say pass the glass, I’ll work with whatever’s in it. I also have a few number 2 pencils sharpened and ready to go.
